A Picture Worth 242 Words:

I came across this Zippo on Amazon and was intrigued by it.  This one image tells quite the tale.

First, with the Yin and Yang symbol in the background and the Katana, we can assume she is Japanese.  I appreciate black and white drawings, especially Asian.  The dash of red only on the blade truly enhances this story.

The blood on the sword indicates it was used in battle only moments ago.  This implies she is leaning on it, kneeling with her head down because of the physical exhaustion of combat when adrenaline starts to fade.

As to her state of undress- it suggests she was surprised by the attack.  Was she bathing?  Maybe.  But with her tousled hair I think she was in the throes of passion when she was confronted with danger.

Did the assailants come for her or her mate.  Is she the sole survivor?  Were they assassins or robbers; are there dead ninjas lying about?  Was she trained in warfare, or did she just pick up the weapon and fight?

Resting on her heels, her feet flat, no longer on her toes- ready to spring forth, one hand on her knee; the encounter is over, she can give in to the fatigue.  Was she the victor?  I’d like to think so.

We see the dénouement of a narrative only partially told.  There’s a bit left to the imagination.  And I’m fine with it.
